Hello,
This is a broadcast status update for stream_ON:
SIRIUS/XM recently launched a new streaming
media infrastructure, one that combines the SIRIUS and XM brands into
one fully-merged entity. Consequently, stream_ON is no longer
functioning due to these changes. In the past, I have been able to make
updates to the software to "fix" stream_ON's connection to SIRIUS' media
system. However, I am currently working as an Electrical and Computer
Engineer and I am working towards a Professional Engineering license. As
a result, I am no longer in a position to devote time to fixing
stream_ON, and I have had to abandon the software. stream_ON is now an
open-source project, and the software source code is available at the
following address for those who wish to work with the software:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/streamon/
Alternate software:
There are other software applications that can
allow you to connect to SIRIUS/XM without the 90-minute interruption.
One such program is xmTuner, available from xmTuner.net. I have been
personally using this program for over a week with good success. There
is no 90-minute interruption, and this application contains a program
guide, similar to that of stream_ON. If you are looking for a good
streaming program (particularly for Met Opera listeners), give this one
a try.
Thank you very much for your comments over the
years, and I am glad that stream_ON was able to provide a level of
usefulness that many of you thought was indispensable. Perhaps SIRIUS/XM
will incorporate some of the most popular features of these applications
into their new products and services, due to debut this Fall.
-Eric
